Binjour Plateau State School currently services 13 children from Binjour, Gurgeena and Branch Creek communities and is situated between the Mundubbera and Gayndah townships. The school consists of two reverse cycle air-conditioned buildings with many useful facilities such as a covered area, tennis court and playground. Teaching Principal Mrs Rebecca Eisel teaches all year levels from Prep to Year 6 with the assistance of two full time teacher aides. Children have the benefit of experiencing further help from a Music Teacher, PE Teacher, Key Teacher/Learning Support teacher and LOTE teacher on a regular basis.
The school staff have adopted the approach of providing all children with a wide range of learning experiences relevant to the level of development and their individual needs. Much one on one, small group and peer group support learning occurs which boosts individual self-confidence and achievement. There is a strong focus on all curriculum areas especially literacy and numeracy.
Technology has become a major part of the school's curriculum with Laptops having internet access. The children also have an interactive white board and the use of digital cameras, video cameras, 12 Ipads and Ipods as part of their curriculum. Sporting pursuits are strongly encouraged. Students have experienced success at District, North Burnett and Wide Bay levels in Athletics, Swimming, Softball and Touch Football.
Parents and the outside community are accessed to help provide the best for all students attending this small school. A partnership through involving parents and community members in the decision making of the schools operational functioning has been developed. Staff are dedicated in helping all students.
